In an effort to support downtown small businesses and draw people to downtown for the holidays, the Department of Economic Development will be sponsoring the 1st Annual “Light up the Loop” storefront decorating competition. This is an opportunity to showcase the downtown area to our residents and visitors and to create a new holiday experience throughout downtown Sharonville.
We encourage all our businesses to participate and to use their creativity to "Light up the Loop" in historic downtown Sharonville. We would love this to compliment the Holiday in Lights displayed at Sharon Woods and make Sharonville a destination for people on their holiday lights tours.
Downtown will be bright with holiday cheer this season. As you may noticed we have decorated the City building with lights and a 30 foot train. The Sharonville Historical building will be decorated with the Dickens Family Carolers. On Depot Square, the large tree will be decorated with ornaments, lights and presents. Light poles on Reading Road will adorn red bows and holiday lights will be installed across Main Street, Reading Road and Creek Road. Additionally, the City’s Park and Recreation Department will be sponsoring carriage rides at Depot Square on December 14th from 10:00am-2:00pm. This is a free event.
Businesses will be required to pre-register for the competition and will be judged by a committee for presentation, workmanship, and originality.
The following prizes will be awarded:
1st Place: $400 Cash Prize, storefront photo posted on City website and Facebook page
2nd Place: $250 Cash Prize
3rd Place: $150 Cash Prize
Businesses interested in participating can download the registration form on our website at www.sharonville.org and submit to our office before Wednesday, December 11th. You may mail it back to our office, email it to business@cityofsharonville.com or drop it off at the City building between 8:30-5:00pm. The judging will take place December 14th-18th and winners will be announced on December 20th. Buildings that house more than one business are also encouraged to participate.
We are excited for our 1st Annual “Light up the Loop” storefront competition. We hope this experience will be the beginning of a new holiday tradition that will illuminate historic downtown Sharonville and our downtown businesses. We hope you will consider participating and help “Light up the Loop” this holiday season. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Best, Chris Xeil Lyons,
Director Economic Development
