Fields Ertel Road Update

January 16, 2019

RE: Fields Ertel Road Construction

Dear Resident,

Fields Ertel Road from Route 42 to just west of Copperfield Drive was re-opened to through traffic on December 21, 2018 after temporary repairs were made to the road. Unfortunately, the severe winter storm last weekend destroyed almost all the temporary road repairs causing very large potholes. The Public Works crew is doing everything possible to fill these potholes and make the road as drivable as possible. As more winter storm events occur, more damage will result to the road causing more repairs.

Due to the safety concerns of the condition of this section of Fields Ertel Road, the city will be closing Fields Ertel Road from Route 42 to Reed Hartman Blvd. to through traffic only. Residents who live on Fields Ertel Road in this section and those residents who live in subdivisions that connect to Fields Ertel Road (Copperfield, Indian Creek & Walk, Indian Springs, Village Woods) will have access to Fields Ertel Road and may drive it, knowing that it is in poor condition. Signage will be put out on both ends of Fields Ertel Road at Route 42 and Reed Hartman Blvd. closing the road to through traffic. The speed limit on Fields Ertel Road in this section only will be posted at 25 MPH.

Please consider NOT driving on this section of Fields Ertel Road due to the condition of the road. The detour route may take a little longer but it will be the best route to drive.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Joe Kempe, Public Works Director
