Garbage Pick-Up

GARBAGE IS PICKED UP AT THE CURB BETWEEN THE SIDEWALK AND THE STREET OR ON THE ROAD EDGE ONCE EACH WEEK AT NO COST TO THE RESIDENT.

Garbage must be drained, wrapped in paper and placed in metal or plastic water-tight containers with tight lids or wired ends. Containers are not to exceed 45 gallons capacity and must weigh no more than 70 lbs. Rubbish must be placed in similar cans, but garbage and rubbish need not be separated. Newspaper and magazines must be tied in bundles. Do not place them in cans or boxes. Ashes must be cold and placed in separate containers with adequate covers. Paper boxes must be broken down and tied in bundles. All containers must be placed at the curb or edge of street right-of-way no later than 7 a.m. on the morning of pickup.

GARBAGE IS COLLECTED BETWEEN 7 A.M. - 6 P.M.

If your regularly scheduled garbage collection day falls on a holiday, your garbage still will be collected on that day, except Christmas and New Year's Day. The collection for these two holidays will be scheduled on the day following the holiday. Empty garbage cans must be removed from the right-of-way as soon as possible.

IF THE COLLECTOR FAILS TO PICK UP YOUR GARBAGE
CALL 563-1177 TO REPORT IT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

Acidic or caustic materials, dry or liquid, including lead-acid batteries (car, marine batteries, etc.) MUST NOT be put in with regular garbage. These items, as well as tires, must be disposed of by the resident.

Needles and syringes must be disposed of in a Sharps Container or in a plastic container (such as a detergent bottle or a 2 liter bottle) with a lid.

Refrigerators, ice makers, window air conditioners, freezers or any other appliance containing chlorofluorcarbon (CFC) refrigerants must have the CFC removed before it will be picked up. Tape documentation, from Rumpke, to the appliance, verifying that a certified technician has removed the CFC. This documentation may be obtained by going to Rumpke’s website or by stopping by the Public Works Office.  Without this verification, the appliance will not be picked up. When purchasing a new appliance, you are encouraged to trade-in the old appliance.

NOTHING MAY BE PLACED AT THE CURB OR ON THE ROAD EDGE SOONER THAN TWO HOURS BEFORE DARK ON THE EVENING BEFORE YOUR REGULARLY SCHEDULED GARBAGE COLLECTION DAY.
